We placed 15 specialist contractors with The Earthshot Prize to evaluate nominations addressing the world’s most urgent environmental challenges, supporting their team through all stages of the judging process.

The challenge
Every year, The Earthshot Prize has to filter through thousands of nominations to find the most promising solutions to the planet’s environmental challenges. . The Earthshot Prize is underpinned by a simple equation: urgency + optimism = action, against which all nominees are evaluated. To do that properly, they needed specialists with real expertise in each challenge area, not generalist judgment, to genuinely interrogate every nomination.

1STAGE BRIEFING
We worked with The Earthshot Prize to craft a brief at every stage of the evaluation process, defining exactly what expertise and skillset was needed to assess nominees against that stage's criteria. -
2TALENT SOURCING
We identified specialist talent with direct expertise in each of the urgent challenge areas the team had identified. -
3RECOMMENDATION AND EVALUATION
We shared our recommendations with The Earthshot Prize, then scheduled and briefed the candidates so they could get straight into the evaluation work.
Our solution
We placed 15 specialist contractors across the stages of the evaluation process. They ran initial reviews of nominations, carried out in-depth research into urgent challenges to understand both current and potential nominees application , and led deeper interrogations of nominees in line with the Earthshot criteria. At every stage, they gave The Earthshot Prize team the analysis and recommendations needed to help decide which nominees were worthy of consideration towards becoming finalists.
